Project Engineer - Wastewater Treatment Design

Job Location: Fort Collins, CO (Hybrid potential) 
Job Salary: $105-120k (Potential to go higher based on experience and background) 
Requirements: Process Design, Pumping Design, Piping Design

Position Overview
We are an established engineering services firm that specializes in civil, geotechnical, structural, and process design projects and have been serving the greater Denver area for over 15 years. Due to our recent growth and increased workload, we are seeking a skilled Project Engineer specializing in Wastewater Treatment Design to oversee and manage projects within our engineering team. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical and/or mechanical engineering, with a focus on process design and optimization of treatment systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of wastewater treatment systems from concept to completion.
  • Conduct mass and flow balances to ensure system efficiency and compliance.
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling to optimize treatment processes and pumping systems.
  • Select appropriate equipment and technologies for wastewater treatment applications.
  • Provide project management oversight throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Perform operational efficiency reviews and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Lead bench scale treatment testing to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
  • Plan and execute pit dewatering strategies to enhance site conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and adherence to timelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in wastewater treatment technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design or related engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of process design principles and treatment systems.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling and pumping system design.
  • Experience with project management and construction oversight.
  • Familiarity with operational efficiency reviews and equipment selection processes.
  • Knowledge of automation upgrades and control systems in treatment facilities.
  • Experience in bench scale treatment testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of piping design principles and Hazwopper requirements.
