Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to join our reputable law firm. As an Insurance Defense Attorney, you will represent insurance companies, their insured clients, and self-insured entities in a wide range of legal matters. You will be responsible for defending claims related to property damage, personal injury, product liability, professional negligence, and other areas of liability law. Your primary role will be to provide expert legal advice and representation, working diligently to resolve disputes through litigation, negotiation, or settlement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent insurance companies and their clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.

  • Analyze and evaluate legal issues related to insurance claims and coverage disputes.

  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.

  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and trials, effectively presenting defense arguments.

  • Work closely with clients to gather facts, prepare evidence, and develop case strategies.

  • Provide timely updates and legal counsel to clients regarding case status, risks, and recommended actions.

  • Investigate claims, assess liability, and collaborate with experts, investigators, and other professionals.

  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes as appropriate.

  • Stay current on changes in insurance law, case law, and relevant legal trends affecting the defense of insurance claims.

  • Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Active license to practice law in California.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance defense

  • Proven experience in handling a variety of insurance defense cases.

  • Strong understanding of insurance law, policies, and procedures.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and experts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in complex litigation or high-value claims.

  • Membership in professional organizations such as the Defense Research Institute (DRI) or the Insurance Defense Association.
