Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager

Position Overview
The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality management and ensuring compliance with industry standards in the production process. This role aims to enhance product quality, improve processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

Provides technical and process support to Operations/Maintenance to ensure Food Safety and Quality of all products produced within the facility.  Develops and performs inspections for compliance of all quality programs and processes.  Responsible for employee training (GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Quality programs), compliance with applicable food laws, verification of HACCP plans, and guides the development of quality policies.  Actively resolves customer complaints and manages the hold/customer complaint reduction plan. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Quality Control team to ensure effective application of quality management techniques.
  • Deliver effective change leadership while driving business changes and minimizing people impact.
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist team to solve operational issues.
  • Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication.
  • Motivate team members to achieve plan goals.
  • GMP concerning the working environment in the laboratory.
  • Organoleptic evaluation and the preparation of designated testing to ensure quality and safety.
  • Identify and lead efforts of product/process quality and cost management opportunities to achieve productivity gains.
  • Lead and develop action plans with production and engineering/maintenance to improve the product specifications, analytical procedures, and sampling programs to ensure that they are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements.
  • Provide forward-thinking insights for future business improvements.
  • Ensure all internal and external sanitation/environmental programs are complete and properly meet quality standards.
  • Design and implement programs to monitor calibration and accuracy of all analytical procedures and equipment in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance to the OSHA chemical hygiene plan and proper laboratory safety practices by involving all employees in an effective safety program; provide training, periodic review of hazards, and timely correction of hazardous situations.
  • Lead the interpretation of in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvements, and assure resolution. Challenge results and drive improvements. Coach others in the interpretation of results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably in food manufacturing or chemical production.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, ASQ, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, FDA regulations, and SQF certification requirements.
  • Proven experience in auditing and compliance management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical process control and risk management techniques.
  • Familiarity with food chemistry and quality systems is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
